Caurie Williams,Tamera Davis Obituary, Death; – Four teenagers in Ohio tragically lost their lives in a high-speed car accident involving a stolen vehicle, as reported by authorities.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, March 12, the four teenagers were traveling along West 106th Street in Cleveland in a 2014 Hyundai Sonata, which had been reported stolen about two weeks earlier. The driver, 18-year-old Eddy Deandre Bonner, reportedly lost control of the car, according to local news sources including WOIO, Cleveland.com, and Fox 8.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the other three victims as 19-year-old Caurie Williams, 14-year-old Tamera Davis, and 14-year-old Kalise McGee, as stated by these outlets.
Surveillance footage reviewed by law enforcement indicated that Bonner appeared to lose control of the vehicle while traveling at a “very high speed” and attempted to regain control before crashing into two trees and another car, as reported by WOIO.
Fox 8 noted that police indicated the vehicle was traveling at an “excessive speed” at the time of the collision, resulting in Williams, Davis, and McGee being ejected from the car. All four teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Cleveland Police Chief Annie Todd mentioned during a press conference that investigators do not believe the vehicle was being pursued at the time of the crash.
The Hyundai was reported stolen on February 27 from the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of the city, although authorities are still investigating the identity of the individual who took the car, as noted by News 5 Cleveland. “Vehicles can be extremely dangerous and, as we have seen, can lead to fatal outcomes,” Todd remarked on March 12, according to News 5.
On Thursday, March 13, mourners gathered at the crash site, leaving balloons in memory of the victims where the wreckage had come to rest. In the aftermath of this tragedy, several parents of the deceased teenagers have shared their grief regarding the loss of their children.
Clarissa McGee, the mother of Kalise, informed News 5 that both her daughter and Tamera were eighth-grade students at Orchard Pre K-8 STEM School within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, which also confirmed this information to the outlet.
