Carl Zahn Jr Obituary, Death; – The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man from McFarland who succumbed to injuries sustained in an apartment fire last month.
The agency has indicated that the cause and manner of death for Carl Zahn Jr., aged 61, are still under investigation. Zahn was declared deceased on December 29, 2024, with a forensic examination taking place the following day. Additional testing is currently ongoing.
As reported by McFarland Fire and Rescue, emergency responders were dispatched around 10 a.m. to an apartment in a four-unit building located on the 5000 block of Paulson Court after a resident reported detecting smoke.
Upon arrival, officials discovered smoke emanating from the reporting resident’s apartment and an active fire in an adjacent unit. While firefighting crews were engaged in extinguishing the flames, they located the victim, who had already passed away. The investigation into Zahn’s death is being conducted by the McFarland Police Department in conjunction with the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
