A 31-year-old Seneca driver has been killed in a car accident near the Oconee Country Club. Coroner Karl Addis says the death of Daniel Calvin Eller is accidental. Golf course workers discovered the accident scene around 7 this morning. But, according to Addis, the wreck is believed to have occurred between midnight and 2 o’clock this morning. State trooper Lena Butler said the car involved was a Ford Taurus that went down an embankment off the Richland Road and hit a wooden fence. Eller was the lone occupant of the Taurus.
The exact reason of the disaster is still being investigated, but Addis has declared Eller’s death an accident. State Trooper Lena Butler confirmed the collision, saying Eller’s Ford Taurus had gone off the right side of the road before crashing down the incline. No additional vehicles or people were involved in the incident. This sad tragedy serves as yet another somber reminder of the risks of driving, especially at night.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation to identify any more contributing variables.
