Captain Charlie Parker Obituary – Firefighters in Vermont are grieving the passing of one of their colleagues who tragically lost his life while on duty on Monday evening. The Chittenden Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that Captain Charlie Parker died while battling a barn fire.
Emergency services responded to the fire at approximately 5 p.m. that day. Following the extinguishing of the fire, Parker returned the tanker to the station and was later discovered unresponsive by another firefighter. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, they were unfortunately unsuccessful. Parker had been a dedicated member of the department for over four decades.
Chittenden Assistant Fire Chief Conrad Zeller expressed Parker’s loss’s significant impact on the department and the broader community. Zeller highlighted Parker’s unwavering commitment to his family and the fire department, emphasizing that he will be greatly missed. While funeral arrangements are yet to be finalized, the department intends to accompany Parker’s body home on Wednesday.
