Carley Canzoneri has been announced as the newest Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach, following Head Coach Joanna Fennema from Columbus State University.
“I am thrilled to have Carley on our staff,” Fennema said. “She has an extremely high soccer IQ, and she was a formidable collegiate standout. That along with her competitive drive and positive energy will be invaluable to our program. I cannot wait for her to get started!”
In Columbus, Canzoneri most recently served as the graduate assistant in the Cougars athletic department by helping with both the women’s soccer program and the general day-to-day operations.
During her four prior years in Columbus, Canzoneri was a student-athlete with the women’s soccer program. In her time with the Cougars, Canzoneri was a three-time all-conference and all-region member in addition to being named a first team All-American in 2021.
“I would like to thank the LR athletic program for the opportunity to begin my coaching career at such an outstanding university with a top tier program,” Canzoneri said. I would like to thank Jo Fennema for believing in me. I look forward to having Jo as a mentor. She embodies the qualities I admire in a coach, and she has experience at all levels of the game. I am so looking forward to being part of the Bear family!”
Canzoneri was a part of several successful seasons at Columbus State. During her career, the Cougars made an appearance in the final four during the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Additionally, Columbus State won the 2023 Peach Belt Tournament and the 2021 and 2022 Peach Belt Regular Season Championships.
Off the field, Canzoneri was an accomplished student as she won the 2022 Elite 90 Award with the highest GPA of all women’s soccer players competing in the Division II Championships.
Canzoneri graduated from Columbus State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Spring 2023 and is expected to graduate with a Master of Business Administration over the summer. Canzoneri hails from Suwanee, Ga., and she is one of five sisters.
