Candace Dicks Death – Authorities have reported that a tragic incident occurred over the weekend in Sumter County, resulting in the death of a woman. Candace Dicks, a 31-year-old resident of Sumter County, passed away on Monday at Prisma Health Richland. The Sumter County Coroner, Robbie Baker, confirmed this unfortunate news.
Dicks sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle on US Highway 401/ Oswego Hwy near Farmingdale Road. The incident took place approximately 2 miles west of Mayesville at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. The authorities have stated that a 2018 GMC pickup truck, traveling south on U.S. 401, collided with Dicks who was in the roadway at the time.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol has been investigating the incident. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on Thursday at The Medical University in Charleston. Both the Sumter County Coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are actively involved in the investigation.
Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck, who was the only occupant, did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
