California PleinAir Colorist, Camille Przewodek OPAM has passed away. She was announced dead by PleinAir Magazine in a social media statement that read “Our community is saddened by the loss of Camille Przewodek Fine Art, who passed away yesterday. Please help us send condolences to her family and all those who knew her.” The circumstances surrounding Camille Przewodek’s cause of death have not been made public at the time of this report.
Who was Camille Przewodek?
The passion Camille Przewodek had for light served as the basis for her inventiveness. The way light affects the landscape at different times of the day and in different circumstances. Camille Przewodek studied painting at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, Massachusetts, under master colorist Henry Hensche, in addition to receiving her schooling in art at Wayne State University in Detroit and obtaining a BFA in Illustration at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
In addition to being a Master Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, and American Women Artists, Camille is a Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters and the California Art Club. Numerous books and magazine articles have highlighted her method of capturing the hues and light effects of nature, and her paintings have appeared in national advertising campaigns for companies including Alfa Romeo, Target, Loews Hotels, and others.
About Camille Przewodek
Although Camille only conducts a small number of painting workshops each year across the nation, she does regularly hold weekly classes in her Northern California studio that are convenient for her students, and she recently created an online “long distance learning” program that allows her students to continue their color studies even after the workshop has ended.
Through her seminars and social media presence, Camille graciously shared her expertise and experience with others, all while maintaining a gentle spirit. She participated in an interview a few weeks prior to being inducted into the inaugural class of the PAE Hall of Fame. As Plein Air Easton’s inaugural juror, Camille collaborated behind the scenes with Nancy Tankersley to help plan and introduce the event. Camille was a teacher, friend, inspiration, path paver, color warrior, and strong woman roll model in the arts.
