Cam McCarthy, a former AFL player for Greater Western Sydney and the Fremantle Dockers, passed away at the age of 29.
McCarthy was discovered unconscious at a residence in Lake Coogee, a suburb of Perth, late on Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2024, at approximately 6:15 p.m., according to authorities.
On Friday, a statement from the WA Police stated: “At an address near Lake Coogee, emergency services were called.” It was confirmed that he had already died when they arrived.

According to the police, there is no reason to suspect the incident.
During his six-year AFL career, McCarthy participated in 70 games and scored 99 goals. He was a well-known member of his team who was adored by his family, many Fremantle Dockers, and supporters of Greater Western Sydney.
Cam worked for the Giants in the beginning of 2014 or so. In 2017, he signed a contract with Freemantle because he wanted to return to the West. 2020 marked the end of his AFL career.
