Callie Weems Obituary – The identities of the four individuals who lost their lives in the mass shooting outside the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce have been confirmed. The first victim, Callie Weems, was a 23-year-old nurse at Dallas County Medical Center and a mother to a 10-month-old daughter.
Another victim, Shirley Kay Taylor, was 63 years old. Taylor’s daughter took to Facebook to remember her mother and seek donations for her burial expenses. The third victim was identified as Roy Sturgis, a 50-year-old from Kingsland, who was praised for his bravery and sacrifice.
The fourth victim, Ellen Shrum, was 81 years old. In response to the tragedy, the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce has temporarily closed, and the Fordyce Police Department has described the incident as the darkest day in the history of the town.
The suspect, Travis Eugene Posey, is currently in custody at the Dallas County Detention Center and will face four charges of capital murder.
