Bryce Tolliver Death – A fatal accident occurred on Friday when a vehicle veered off the road and collided with multiple objects, resulting in the death of one individual. The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that the victim was Bryce Tolliver, a 21-year-old resident of Barnwell. The incident took place around 7:40 p.m. and involved a 2009 Chevrolet sedan driven by Tolliver.
While traveling west on Patterson Mill Road, the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and swerved across all lanes before ultimately crashing into an embankment and flipping over, colliding with several trees. Tolliver was ejected from the car and subsequently airlifted to a hospital in Augusta, Georgia, where he succumbed to his injuries.
No other casualties were reported. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and it remains unclear whether Tolliver was wearing a seat belt. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to examine the incident. As of May 22, 2024, a total of 357 fatalities have occurred on South Carolina roads, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
In 2023, there were 1,030 reported deaths resulting from crashes in South Carolina. In Barnwell County alone, seven fatalities have been recorded in 2024, as per DPS data, compared to five deaths in the previous year.
