Brooks Prejean LSU Death: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brooks Prejean, a beloved student at Louisiana State University (LSU), who tragically died by suicide on September 12, 2024, at the age of 21. Brooks was a vibrant, kind, and intelligent young man whose loss leaves a deep void in the lives of his family, friends, and the LSU community.
Born on March 4, 2003, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Brooks was a bright and talented student who pursued his studies with passion and determination. He was a junior at LSU, where he was majoring in Engineering and was well-regarded by his professors and peers for his academic dedication and creative thinking. Brooks was a member of various student organizations and was known for his willingness to help others, his quiet sense of humor, and his genuine kindness.
Brooks loved LSU and was proud to be part of the Tiger community. Outside of his studies, he was an avid sports fan, especially passionate about LSU football. He enjoyed spending time with friends, watching games, and exploring the campus that he had come to love during his time at the university.
Brooks will be remembered by those who knew him as a thoughtful and gentle soul who had a profound impact on the lives of those around him. He was a loving son, brother, and friend who always made time for others, offering a listening ear and kind words when they were needed most.
Brooks is survived by his parents, Michael and Anne Prejean of Lafayette; his siblings, Claire and Nathan Prejean; his grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many close friends and extended family members.
A private family service will be held to honor Brooks’s life. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Brooks’s memory to organizations that support mental health awareness and suicide prevention, such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) or the LSU Student Mental Health Services.
Brooks’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his family encourages anyone struggling with mental health to seek help and know that they are never alone.
