Brian Clark Obituary – The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified a 57-year-old man from Norristown who was fatally struck by a vehicle late Sunday night in downtown Norristown. Brian Clark lost his life in a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of West Main and Astor streets, as confirmed by Montgomery County Chief Deputy Coroner Alexander Balacki on Monday afternoon.
Upon arrival at the scene around 10:48 p.m. Sunday, Norristown police officers found Clark in the center median of West Main Street, with no pulse and severe trauma to his lower extremities. Despite efforts to save his life, Clark was pronounced dead at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital in East Norriton Township. The intersection remained closed for several hours and was reopened around 3 a.m. Monday.
Law enforcement officials obtained video footage showing a dark SUV striking Clark as he walked in the center of the roadway, then speeding away from the scene. The driver did not stop to check on Clark after the collision. The vehicle was last seen heading north on DeKalb Street at Marshall Street and may have sustained damage to the driver’s front headlight/bumper and driver’s side windshield.
An abandoned vehicle believed to be involved in the hit-and-run was found at the intersection of Arch and Wood streets and impounded for further investigation by the Norristown and Pennsylvania State Police departments, along with the Montgomery County Detective Bureau.
A forensic pathologist determined that Clark’s cause of death was “multiple injuries” and the manner of death was ruled an “accident.”
