On Saturday, September 21, tragedy struck on Interstate 24 near Paducah, Kentucky, when a high-speed motorcycle accident claimed the lives of two Benton residents. The Paducah Police Department responded to the scene around 3:28 p.m. after reports of a serious accident near the 6.4 mile marker.
According to authorities, 40-year-old Brian A. Bledsoe and 41-year-old Amanda R. Stokes were riding a motorcycle that left the roadway and collided with a cable barrier in the median. Witnesses reported that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
A specialist collision reconstruction team arrived to investigate the cause of the crash. The Paducah Police Department was supported by multiple agencies including Paducah Fire, Mercy Ambulance, McCracken County Sheriff, McCracken County Coroner, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and McCracken County Department of Emergency Services (DES).
