Brenda S Starling Obituary, Death; – A 70-year-old woman lost her life following a house fire in Houston County on Monday night. Brenda S. Starling was declared deceased at the scene after her residence ignited in the Ratcliff area, as reported by Houston County Sheriff Zak Benge. Her death resulted from injuries sustained in the fire.
“The Houston County Sheriff’s Office wishes to express its condolences to the victim’s family during this difficult time. We also acknowledge the efforts of the fire departments that responded to the incident,” the office stated.
Additionally, the HCSO expressed gratitude to the Crockett Fire Department, Belott Fire Department, Ratcliff Fire Department, Hudson Fire Department, Central Fire Department, and Kennard Fire Department for their prompt response to the blaze.
The Houston County Fire Marshal’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the fire. Houston County Fire Marshal Heath Murff indicated that while the cause remains undetermined, he suspects that an electric heater may have ignited the floor of the home. He also pointed out the absence of smoke detectors and the limited exits available in the house.
