(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good New Year’s Eve Morning! Welcome to the last day of 2024.
A few areas of fog this morning for the commute as well, along with a chilly start as we walk out the door to the 40s. We will turn milder again today, with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
As a cold front moves in, we will notice an increase in clouds throughout the day. This cold front will be a weaker system and will only produce an isolated shower or two later this morning and through the early afternoon. Winds will pick up a bit as the system passes through.
Wind gusts around Charlotte will gust between 20-30 mph, with 40-50 mph gusts for the mountains.
A wind advisory has been issued for Ashe, Watauga, and Avery counties starting at 10 p.m. tonight and continuing until noon on Wednesday.
There is a chance for a few snow showers along the western slopes of the high country tonight and into Wednesday morning. Very little snowfall accumulation, but areas above 3500′ could receive 1-3 inches of snowfall.
Besides the breezy conditions tonight, the rest of the region will be quiet for any New Year’s Eve festivities. Temps will fall into the 50s and 40s through the evening.
