Brandon Elliott Gabriel Flores Obituary, – The individual who was fatally struck by a Bakersfield police patrol vehicle has been identified as 27-year-old Brandon Elliott Gabriel Flores of Bakersfield, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office. On June 17, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a two-officer BPD vehicle was en route to a service call in the downtown area, as stated by the Bakersfield Police Department.
While traveling northbound in the 1500 block of South Union Avenue, the officers’ vehicle collided with Flores on the roadway, resulting in severe injuries. Upon arrival at the scene, medical assistance was summoned, and Flores was pronounced deceased. Officer Julian Garcia and Officer Zachary Ward, both of whom have been serving with the department for approximately two years, have been identified as the officers involved in the incident. BPD has placed both officers on administrative leave.
