Bonny J. Heyn Obituary – The individual who passed away after being hit by a driver facing multiple charges, including DUII and reckless driving, in a crash that occurred in February has been identified by the police. On the night of February 23, at 11:25 p.m., Maria I. Moncada, the suspect, was driving at a high speed on Northeast Marine Drive near the Portland International Airport (PDX) when she veered out of her lane and collided with the back of a 2015 Fit that was stationary on the shoulder, according to law enforcement. Moncada was then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim, identified as 75-year-old Bonny J. Heyn of Portland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Heyn’s family has been informed of her passing by the police. Moncada, aged 22, is facing charges of first-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol), and reckless driving.
The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) stated that this incident marks the 13th traffic-related fatality in Portland in 2024. This figure may be higher than the count provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which excludes certain types of crashes and deaths that occur more than 30 days after the incident.
