Evans’ journey in radio began after earning his Master’s degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Though he worked in various radio formats throughout his career, classical radio was his true passion. His love for classical music extended beyond the airwaves; he was an avid audiophile and collector of vinyl records, amassing a collection of several thousand slabs in his music library.
Beyond his career in radio, Evans wore many hats. He was a children’s television writer, an educator, and a devoted parent. In his spare time, he could often be found tinkering with his turntable, ensuring that the music he loved sounded just right.
Listeners who valued Evans’ extensive knowledge of classical music and his friendly, approachable delivery will sincerely miss his presence on the airwaves at WQXR-FM. All who had the pleasure of tuning in will fondly remember his contributions to the world of classical radio.
