CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Rock Hill man won big on Thursday at the suggestion of his mother, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
While in Charlotte for work, Savion Lytle played The Lamp digital lottery. Paying $30 for the instant game, he won the top prize of $150,000. The odds of this win are 1 in 1 million.
“My mom was actually the one who got me into it,” he said. “It was my first time playing any lottery game.”
On Tuesday, Lytle went to the lottery headquarters in Raleigh to claim his prize. After taxes, he went home with $107,633. “This is a blessing,” he said.
Lytle plans to use some of the money for trade school to learn welding.
In The Lamp game, a player can bet between 50 cents and $30. The top prize is $150,000. Digital instant games are exclusive to the lottery’s website or mobile app.
