Ben Kredich Death – 24-year-old autistic son of Tennessee Director of Swimming & Diving by UT Matt Kredich has been identified as the victim who passed away in deadly pedestrian accident Monday. Ben died after he was struck by a male subject who fled the scene after the incident. The crash happened in a Knoxville road on Monday, has been identified.
According to a statement released by the University of Tennessee, Ben Kredich, 24, was murdered on Monday in Knoxville by a “impaired motorist” as he walked near the UT campus. Matt Kredich, the head coach of the Tennessee swimming and diving team, is his father. In addition, he had been a part of UT FUTURE, a programme at UT Knoxville that helps students with intellectual and developmental challenges attend college and gain the skills they need to become self-sufficient adults.

“Our hearts ache as an athletics department and are filled with sorrow in regards to the tragic and senseless death of Ben Kredich, son of Matt and Kim. We ask all of Vol Nation to keep the Kredich family in their thoughts and prayers. May God rest Ben’s beautiful soul,” said Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White.
The driver in the crash has been identified as Shannon Walker, 44 of Maryville, Tennessee. He is facing several charges including vehicular homicide and DUI. Ben Kredich was diagnosed with autism at 2-year-old. He had intentions to grow up and be a part of UT FUTURE, that thinks a program that focuses on students with intellectual and developmental challenges
