One person was killed in a brush fire that burned through an encampment in Pompano Beach, officials said. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue units responded to reports of a large brush fire in the area of Northeast 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue, near North Dixie Highway, at around 11 a.m., Sunday. According to City of Miami Police, 60-year-old Carlos Benitez was last seen in an unspecified part of the Little Havana area. He stands 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs around 100 pounds and last seen wearing a white shirt, blue pajama pants and brown slippers.
