GALVESTON, Texas — A 20-year-old Dickinson woman drowned early Sunday morning after she either jumped or fell into the water near a rock jetty, according to Galveston Island Beach Patrol. Beach patrol received a call about a missing swimmer near Tower 47 at around 12:30 a.m. Witnesses called 911 after they said they lost sight of her in the water. A rescue truck and a motorcycle ended up on a collision course in Tamarac, sending one person to the hospital. According to Tamarac Fire Rescue, first responders with their department were rushing someone to the hospital when a motorcyclist going at a high rate of speed slammed into them at Pine Island Road and Southgate Boulevard, early Sunday afternoon.
