NORWOOD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Stanly County firefighter was killed in an accident recently, according to the Albemarle Fire Department. The department wrote the following on social media: “Our hearts are with Stanly County EMS and Center Rural Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in Norwood as they mourn the loss of one of their own who was killed in a vehicle accident on his way to work. At approximately 9:23 a.m., first responders from Greensboro Police, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS were dispatched to a reported stabbing and gunshot wound incident at 2939 W. Vandalia Road. Upon arrival, authorities located 25-year-old Darius Deshaud Goolsby in a breezeway, suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were initiated, and Goolsby was transported to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. His next of kin have been notified.
