The person suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and the state medical examiner’s autopsy determined that the manner of death was homicide. The victim was also identified as 43-year-old Salem resident Priscilla Joann Aldana, who was reported missing. On Dec. 23, 2024, Aldana was reported missing. Aldana was later recognized as the victim found outside a burned-out building on an abandoned lot on January 3. The Fulton Police Department received notification of an assault involving two patients at Fulton State Hospital on January 6, 2025, shortly before 6:00 p.m., on January 7, 2025, at 1549 hours. The 53-year-old male victim, Christos Karagiannis, passed away from wounds he sustained during an assault by the 29-year-old defendant, Jabril Kanatzar. On January 8, 2025, Karagiannis was taken to University Hospital and taken off life support. Kanatzar is being jailed without bond in a secure facility for first-degree murder and fourth-degree assault against a second victim. The public is not in danger.
