GASTON COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Gaston County crews are working to extinguish a brush fire on the side of I-85 southbound, according to the Lowell Fire Department. The department was notified by Gaston County Communications around 7:37 p.m. on Saturday after multiple calls came in regarding a large area of grass on fire between Exit 22 and 23. The Lowell Fire Department says when crews arrived, approximately 100 yards of grass was on fire. Multiple agencies are currently working to put out the fire.
