The Austin community is mourning the sudden loss of Dick Chalmers, a dear friend, cultural figure, and Creative Content Director at Tweezzle Corp. Renowned for his extensive knowledge of music and cinema, his distinctive fashion sense, and his talent for fostering creativity, Dick’s unexpected departure has created a significant gap among his family, friends, and colleagues, as well as in the wider music, film, and creative circles he impacted. A lifelong resident of Austin, Dick was a treasured personality within the local creative community. His influence extended well beyond his position at Tweezzle Corp, where his groundbreaking methods in digital content and media storytelling garnered him admiration throughout the industry. He was also the Head Librarian at Empire Control Room & Garage, where he assembled music collections, preservation materials, and innovative projects that enhanced the experiences for both artists and audiences. SUPPORT THE FAMILY – GOD BLESS YOU In addition to his roles in business, Dick played significant parts at Shangri La and Transmission Events, where his enthusiasm for live performances and immersive art experiences made a lasting impact on Austin’s cultural scene. Colleagues remember him for his generosity, humor, and steadfastness, as well as his knack for connecting individuals and enhancing every endeavor he was involved in. Friends recall Dick as a “rad dude” whose vibrancy and wit shone through in all his interactions. A friend from Worm Suicide & The Devil Club remarked, “He always made us appear super tough with his behind-the-scenes videos. Departed far too early, but will never be forgotten.” Dick’s remarkable talent for creating and curating unforgettable experiences—via music, film, or digital platforms—was a defining aspect of his existence. Beyond his career achievements, Dick served as a mentor, confidant, and vital member of Austin’s creative community. His warmth, loyalty, and delight were reflected in everything he undertook, from his clever, humorous insights to his film projects with bands and his ever-growing suggestions for music. He possessed a unique ability to make individuals feel recognized, acknowledged, and appreciated, and his legacy will continue to motivate those who had the privilege of knowing him. While Dick’s departure signifies the conclusion of an era, his influence persists through the numerous friendships, initiatives, and artistic endeavors he shaped. His contributions to the cultural landscape of Austin and the creative fields he was part of will endure for years ahead. As his family, friends, and colleagues process their grief, they find solace in the myriad memories, lessons, and creative inspirations Dick imparted during his lifetime. Although he is no longer among us, the spirit of Dick Chalmers remains vivid in the hearts of the communities he cultivated, and his legacy will unquestionably continue to influence the future of Austin’s music, cinema, and artistic sectors.
