Austin Vickery Obituary, – A tragic incident occurred in the north Idaho backcountry, resulting in the death of a man from Moses Lake. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) promptly responded to a call regarding a motorcycle crash at 2:50 p.m. on Sunday, May 26.
According to witnesses, the motorcycle and its rider veered off the road and tumbled down an embankment on Forest Service Road (FSR) 437 near FSR 1530. The rider was found unconscious at the scene. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that the rider had lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve, ultimately colliding with a tree. Both the rider and the motorcycle were thrown down the embankment, resulting in the rider’s fatal injuries.
The KCSO has identified the deceased rider as 28-year-old Austin Vickery from Moses Lake. While the investigation into the crash is still ongoing, preliminary findings suggest that speed may have played a role in the accident. The KCSO Back Country Unit and Traffic Unit, in conjunction with Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and Northern Lakes Fire, all swiftly responded to the scene to provide assistance.
