Ashley Smith Obituary, Death; – A 31-year-old woman, identified as Ashley Smith from Wakeman, has tragically lost her life following a collision involving two vehicles on Cleveland Road near Townsend Avenue in Huron County.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:56 p.m. on Monday, when Smith was operating a 2012 Hyundai Accent eastbound in Norwalk. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, she veered left of center and collided head-on with a 2018 Kenworth T3 truck.
Smith succumbed to her injuries as a result of the accident. Authorities have reported that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle, a 67-year-old man from Cleveland, sustained no injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol stated, “It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.” The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the Norwalk police and fire departments, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, North Central EMS, and the Huron County Coroner.
