April Underhill Obituary, Death – An auto accident has resulted in the death of at least one woman, according to the Goldsboro police. The police and fire departments of Goldsboro, as well as the emergency medical services of Wayne County, responded to a complaint of a traffic accident involving a pedestrian on Highway 70 West at I-795 at around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday. According to the findings of the inquiry conducted by the police, Leland Underhill and his wife, April Underhill, were strolling east along the curb of the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 70 West. The Underhill family was seen wheeling shopping carts about while dressed in dark apparel, and Leland Underhill was seen with a handheld flashlight.
April Underhill was struck by the right front portion of a car driven by a woman that was heading eastward on U.S. 70 West. The vehicle was traveling in the direction opposite to Underhill. Leland Underhill was not involved in the collision, hence he did not get any injuries as a result of it. The driver reportedly came to a stop at the scene and was cooperative with the police officers who were conducting the investigation. After that, she was taken by ambulance to the Wayne UNC Health Care for treatment of her minor injuries.
April Underhill was discovered unresponsive along the south shoulder of the roadway and pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The investigation conducted by the police concluded that neither excessive speed nor alcohol consumption were factors that led to the automobile accident. April Underhill was discovered to have been in the street at the time that she was struck by a vehicle. There will be no legal action taken against the person who was driving the automobile
