Antonio Benjamin Dorame Obituary, Death; – The Tucson Police Department has apprehended an individual believed to have fled the scene of an accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the TPD, the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, in the 3000 block of North Oracle Road.
Authorities report that 25-year-old Antonio Benjamin Dorame was attempting to cross Oracle Road when he was struck by a 2005 Honda Civic. Dorame was declared deceased at the scene.
The TPD indicates that the Honda was traveling northward at the time of the incident. Dorame was not utilizing either a marked or unmarked crosswalk, and witnesses estimated that the vehicle was exceeding the speed limit.
Following the collision with the pedestrian, the Honda continued north on Oracle Road, disregarded a red light at Fort Lowell Road, and subsequently collided with another vehicle that was turning left from Fort Lowell onto Oracle. This collision resulted in a separate three-car accident involving vehicles that were halted on the northern side of the intersection.
The driver of the Honda Civic has been identified as 21-year-old Juan Carlos Urquidez. Officers concluded that he was under the influence. Urquidez has since been booked into the Pima County Jail and is facing charges of manslaughter, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of felony endangerment, and felony criminal damage. He is currently being held on a bond of $250,000.
