Antoinette Skaggs,Kenneth Skaggs Obituary, Death; – A man, identified by police as having confessed to the murder of his grandparents, reportedly utilized both a sword and a knife during the assaults, as detailed in court documents acquired by WAFF 48.
According to the Huntsville Police, officers were dispatched to Carriage Court at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday to conduct a welfare check. Upon their arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Xavier Laharris Cole seated in the passenger side of a vehicle. Cole allegedly admitted to the officers that he had killed his grandparents within their apartment.
The officers proceeded to the apartment of Cole’s grandparents, also located on Carriage Court, where they discovered the bodies of 67-year-old Antoinette Skaggs and 69-year-old Kenneth Skaggs. Court documents indicate that Cole had no previous criminal record in Alabama, although neighbors had reported observing peculiar behavior from him over an extended period.
“We tried not to pay too much attention to him because it’s kind of a regular thing,” remarked neighbor Darius Underwood. “Something like that, you don’t expect to happen in a small neighborhood like this.”
Cole is currently being held in the Madison County Jail without the possibility of bond, facing two charges of capital murder. He is scheduled to appear in court for a felony examination on March 25.
