An investigation is underway after a fatal motorcycle accident claimed the life of 41-year-old Anthony Tibbits over the weekend in western Wisconsin.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. Croix reported the crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Tibbitts was riding a motorcycle on the ramp from State Highway 35 to Interstate 94 in Hudson when he lost control and crashed. He was taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead the following day, Sunday, September 22.
Authorities have confirmed that Tibich was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the severity of his injuries. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office. Croix continues to investigate the incident, seeking to determine any additional factors that may have played a role in the crash.
This tragedy adds to the growing number of traffic deaths in Wisconsin this year. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, at least 388 people died on Wisconsin roads in 2024, with six of those deaths occurring in St. Croix County.
Motorcycle accidents, in particular, are a recurring issue in the area. Last month, a 41-year-old motorcyclist also died in Kinnickinnic, Wisconsin, after colliding with a semi truck, further highlighting the dangers motorcyclists face on the road.
As the investigation into Anthony Tibbits’ crash continues, officials are reminding motorcyclists of the importance of wearing helmets and paying attention to reduce the state’s growing number of fatal crashes
