Anthony Desimone Death – Anthony Desimone, a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician for the North Haven Fire Department, passed away unexpectedly. The 50-year-old firefighter Desimone was a veteran of the North Haven Fire Department, having served there for 23 years. He began his career in the fire service as a North Haven volunteer fireman with the Northeast Volunteer Fire Company #4 before being hired on full-time as a career firefighter.
Firefighter Desimone had just finished working a continuous shift of 38 hours at the fire station when he arrived home and experienced a medical emergency. As a result, he was taken off duty and relieved of his responsibilities. His loved ones were there when he passed out, and they phoned the emergency services right away. In response to a call for medical assistance, units from North Haven Fire, Police, and Nelson Ambulance responded. After repeated attempts to bring FF Desimone back to life during resuscitation, the medical staff at Yale New Haven Hospital pronounced him deceased and transferred him there.
The North Haven Little League and the Knights of Columbus were two of the many civic organizations in which FF Desimone was active. His wife and their two children are the only ones who outlive him. Once they have been finalized, the department will communicate the funeral arrangements with you.
DeSimone had served as President of the Union in the past and had worked the day shift on August 24 before suffering a fatal heart attack shortly after getting home from work. Brother DeSimone had worked the day shift.
The North Haven Fire Department received condolences from a number of other fire departments, including the Mohegan Fire Company, the Waterbury Fire Fighters Association, and the Tolland Fire Department. At a later time, the North Haven Fire Department will share more information with regard to the funeral preparations.
