Anthony Barrera,Erin Moreno Obituary, – Two individuals, a female and a baby, lost their lives in the aftermath of a rear-end collision that occurred on Saturday afternoon on Interstate 335 at the Kansas Turnpike in Lyon County, as per authorities. The incident was recorded at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday on the southbound I-335, approximately 7 miles north of Emporia.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a 2021 Kia Telluride was traveling south on I-335 when it collided with the rear of a 2015 International semitrailer. A female passenger in the Kia, identified as Erin Moreno, 42, from Wichita, was taken to Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia, where she was declared deceased. The patrol mentioned that Moreno was wearing her seat belt.
Another passenger in the Kia, an infant named Anthony Barrera, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol confirmed that Anthony was appropriately restrained.
The Kia’s driver, Guerrero Moreno Jr., 4, from Wichita, was taken to Newman Regional Hospital with suspected minor injuries. The patrol stated that he was not wearing his seat belt. The semi’s driver, identified as Stetson Cooley, 39, from North Little Rock, Arkansas, was reported unharmed. The patrol mentioned that Cooley, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was wearing his seat belt.
