A tragic car accident claimed the life of a teenage boy in Indio on Sunday evening. The Riverside County coroner’s office identified the deceased as 14-year-old Anthony Alvarado Lemus.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:23 p.m. at the intersection of Indio Boulevard and Fargo Street. According to Benjamin Guitron, a spokesman for the Indio Police Department, three vehicles were involved in the accident: a sedan and two SUVs. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a devastating crash that had left the vehicles severely damaged.
Inside the sedan, officers found Anthony Alvarado Lemus and another individual who was driving the car. Tragically, Lemus was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severe injuries he sustained in the collision. The driver of the sedan, along with others involved in the accident, were transported to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries. As of Monday, all were reported to be in stable condition.
The Indio Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision to determine its cause. The exact sequence of events and whether any traffic violations or other factors contributed to the crash remain unclear at this time.
