Andrew Duarte Obituary, Death; – West York Borough Police have reported the tragic death of one of their officers due to a shooting incident at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York. In a statement shared on Facebook, the police department named the deceased officer as Andrew Duarte.
“We are heartbroken by this senseless loss of life. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family of West York Borough Police Officer Andrew Duarte, as well as with our colleagues in the West York Borough Police Department who have lost a friend and comrade. Additionally, we extend our condolences to our fellow Borough agencies mourning the loss of a colleague. Our community is in mourning for a true hero.”
The department has invited the public to pay their respects by laying flowers at 1381 West Poplar Street in West York. The shooting occurred around noon at the intersection of Innovation Drive and Roosevelt Avenue. According to AP News, the assailant was killed following the exchange of gunfire within the hospital.
