Andrea Garcia Obituary, Death; – A teenager is currently facing multiple charges, including reckless homicide, following a collision between two vehicles in Elk Grove Village last month. The incident occurred at 11:22 p.m. on May 29 at the intersection of Biesterfield and Meacham Roads.
According to the Elk Grove Village Police Department, an investigation revealed that a Lexus traveling northbound disregarded a red traffic signal and collided with a Honda SUV that was traveling eastbound with a green light. Tragically, the sole occupant of the Honda, identified as Andrea Garcia, 45, from Des Plaines, was pronounced deceased after being transported to a nearby hospital. Garcia, a mother of five children ranging in age from four to 27, was on her way home from work at the time of the accident.
Four individuals in the Lexus, including three juveniles and one adult, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. They have since been released. The driver of the Lexus, a juvenile, has been arrested and is now facing five charges, including aggravated speeding, disobeying a traffic signal, unlawful concealment of registration, no headlights, and reckless homicide, which is classified as a Class 3 Felony. Photographs and videos from the scene depict the extensive damage to both vehicles, with deployed airbags and debris scattered across the roadway.
Additionally, a mangled tree and a downed light pole can be seen near the damaged Honda. Following the crash, several teenagers arrived at the scene and suggested that those involved in the accident may have been their friends. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
