Amber Rodriguez, Angelica Santos Obituary – The two women who were allegedly killed by a former Washington police officer, triggering an Amber Alert, have been identified by the police. Elias Huizar, a former Yakima police officer, ended the pursuit on I-5 in Oregon by shooting himself in the head. Fortunately, his 1-year-old son, Roman Santos, was found unharmed in the back seat and taken into police custody.
During a press conference on Wednesday, the West Richland Police Department revealed the identities of the two victims. Amber Rodriguez, Huizar’s ex-wife and a teacher at an elementary school, was believed to have been fatally shot by Huizar before he fled from the scene. The second victim was Angelica Santos, a 17-year-old girl who was Roman’s mother and Huizar’s girlfriend.
Huizar has been charged with Rodriguez’s death, while Santos’ death is still under investigation pending an autopsy, according to the police. West Richland Police Chief Thomas Grego stated in the press conference that the motive, timeline of the deaths, and the ongoing investigation are still being determined.
It was revealed that Huizar, 39, had met Santos when he was a school resource officer at her middle school. He was accused of raping and impregnating her, as stated by the police.
