Alex Calderon Obituary – A fatal accident occurred on Friday night involving a collision between a motorcycle and a Mazda SUV, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, as reported by the Mesa Police Department. The deceased has been identified as Alex Calderon, a 23-year-old individual. Mesa police received the call about the crash at approximately 9:50 p.m. that night, which took place at the intersection of Sycamore and Southern.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the severely injured motorcyclist, who was partially trapped beneath the car. The injured individual, Calderon, was promptly extricated from underneath the vehicle and promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later on.
The occupants of the SUV sustained minor injuries and were subsequently discharged from the hospital. Initial investigations indicate that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Southern at a high rate of speed, maneuvering between vehicles, while the Mazda was waiting at the traffic light on Southern, preparing to turn onto Sycamore.
The collision occurred when the Mazda began its turn. The driver of the car underwent testing for impairment and was processed for DUI in accordance with protocol. The results of the tests are not yet available. It is important to note that motorcycles are required to have a muffler and should utilize headlights during the daytime. Additionally, their handlebars must not exceed the height of the driver’s shoulders, and no more than two motorcycles are permitted to ride side by side.
