His parents and brothers, Jim and David Vogelbaugh, had already passed away before he did.Ken Vogelbaugh was the second of Mary (Zukosky) and Orville’s five sons. He started playing baseball in Little League when he was six years old and continued through high school.
From 1954 to the end of the 2014 recreational softball season, Ken played every single game. His fastball was so powerful that it earned him the moniker “Rocket,” and he was seen as a dangerous batter. In 2006, on April 1st, Rocket and the Knoxville Tap Bulldogs were inducted into the Illinois Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame. He treasured his World Series ring from his senior year with the Bobcats, which he received as player number eleven.
rnrnBefore joining Hilltop Mobile Homes in Bloomington, Illinois, Ken was a successful car salesman.Ken was a dedicated and appreciative man who shared his sobriety with those who were on a similar path. Ken’s pride was not in his achievements, but in the man his son Jason had become. Although we are pained by our physical separation, we are assured in our spiritual union and feel blessed by Ken’s love and memory.
