Adam Mychajliw,Samuel Case Obituary, Death; – A teenager from the Valley and four adults lost their lives in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 40, as reported by officials.
On Friday, March 14, officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to an incident on westbound I-40 at milepost 294, close to Holbrook. Initial investigations by DPS revealed that a semi-truck collided with the rear of a Cadillac Escalade, triggering a chain reaction that involved a Jeep Wrangler and another semi-truck.
The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of five individuals, with two others sustaining injuries. The deceased have been identified by DPS as follows:
– Adam Mychajliw, 17, from Scottsdale, Arizona
– Sophia Case, 17, from Fort Collins, Colorado
– Sarah Broyel-Case, 50, from Fort Collins, Colorado
– Samuel Case, 51, from Fort Collins, Colorado
– Jeet Vikram, 34, from Ozone Park, New York
According to DPS, the accident occurred amid significant traffic congestion due to detours stemming from road closures related to winter storms in Arizona’s high country. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
