MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man reportedly involved in a carjacking out of Huntersville was caught hiding under a mattress at a home before he was arrested, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Quinton Walsh, 42, was taken into custody on Friday, Feb. 21, after receiving a tip from another suspect tied to the reported carjacking of Walsh’s involvement and location.
Based on this tip, deputies set up surveillance outside a home where Walsh was known to be.
Responding deputies observed Walsh run into the home. Within 10 minutes, deputies were able to enter the house where they said they found Walsh hiding under a mattress in a bedroom.
Walsh was taken into custody following a brief struggle, the sheriff’s office said.
The reported stolen vehicle was found spray-painted in black in an apparent attempt to hide it, however, deputies said they were able to verify the VIN and license plate.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said cocaine was also found inside the stolen vehicle.

Walsh faces several charges including common law robbery, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and felony possession of cocaine.
