Abreham Yohhanes Obituary, Death; – A jury in Denver found a woman guilty on Tuesday for her role in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in 2021.
Ashlye Handy, now 36 years old, was originally charged with first-degree murder; however, the jury of the Denver District Court convicted her of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Abreham Yohhanes, as reported by the district attorney’s office.
The Denver Police Department reported that they were notified of Yohhanes’ death shortly after 7:30 a.m. on September 16, 2021, in the 1400 block of North Yosemite Street. The medical examiner determined that Yohhanes succumbed to a gunshot wound.
Handy was identified as the suspect in the case. A month later, the Denver Police issued a bulletin seeking information on her whereabouts. She surrendered to authorities the day following the release of the bulletin. Handy is facing a potential sentence of up to 48 years in prison, with her sentencing scheduled for April 3.
