Aaron Pittman-Teague Obituary, Death;- The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office has identified the IDOT employee who tragically lost his life when his snowplow was struck by a train near Danforth on Monday.
Coroner Robert Gessner informed WCIA that the deceased was 29-year-old Aaron Pittman-Teague. Following the incident, Pittman-Teague was transported from Iroquois County to Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, Gessner noted, although the results are currently unavailable as they await routine toxicology testing. The Illinois Department of Transportation, represented by spokesperson Paul Wappel, issued the following statement in response to the incident:
We are profoundly saddened by the untimely passing of Aaron Pittman-Teague, who had been a full-time temporary highway maintainer since 2023. He died on Monday morning when the snowplow he was operating was struck by a train in Iroquois County. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and all those affected. The department will fully cooperate with the Illinois State Police as they continue their investigation.

DANFORTH, Ill. (WCIA) — An IDOT snowplow driver was fatally injured on Monday when his vehicle was hit by a train in Iroquois County.
The collision occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. north of Danforth, as confirmed by State Police to WCIA. The snowplow was at the intersection of U.S. Route 45 and County Road 2300 North when it was struck by a passing Canadian National freight train. Photographs from the scene indicate that the railroad crossing lacks both gate barriers and warning lights.
