(PINPOINT WEATHER) — A Pinpoint Weather Alert has been issued for Wednesday due to the threat of strong to severe storms and gusty winds throughout the day.

A line of strong to severe storms will move through the Queen City News viewing area from 6-10 am Wednesday morning.
The storms will move through the foothills initially and move into the Charlotte metro around 8 am, right during the heart of rush hour.
The line of storms will move through quickly but could pack a punch in that short time.
The main threats with Wednesday morning storms will be gusty winds and large hail, but isolated tornadoes also can’t be ruled out. Due to the fast speed of this system, flooding will not be an issue.
This line of storms will be moving through during the coolest part of the day, allowing for lower instability. This will limit the severe threat west of I-77, however, the threat of severe weather does increase southeast of I-85 as the sun comes up.
By noon on Wednesday, drier conditions will move in, but winds will remain strong.
Expect winds to gust between 30-40mph across the region throughout the day, with 50-60 mph gusts possible in the mountains.

Wind advisories are in effect for much of the Queen City News viewing area for tonight and through most of Wednesday.
It is best to strap down any outdoor seasonal decorations or inflatables. Possibly bring them inside on Wednesday. Also, stay alert on Wednesday morning. Possibly drive kids to the bus stop and hold off on driving until after the line of storms moves through.
Winds will start to subside a bit Wednesday night into Thursday morning, but a few snow showers will develop in the high country.
A bit breezy for Thursday, but much calmer weather moves in late week, and we gradually warm back up near 70 into the weekend.
