A devastating shooting incident occurred on Saturday night in Buffalo, New York, leaving a 14-year-old girl dead and five other teenagers injured. The shooting took place in a parking lot on Jefferson Avenue, near Alexander Place, around 11:30 p.m.
According to Buffalo police, six teenagers between 14 and 16 years old were shot. The 14-year-old girl was rushed to Oishei Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Four males were taken to ECMC by ambulance, with a 15-year-old boy in critical condition and the others in stable condition.
A 16-year-old boy was grazed by gunfire but declined medical treatment at the scene. The police reported that hundreds of teenagers were in the area for a large house party, which led to a fight and eventually the shooting.
The police received an initial loud music call around 10:20 p.m., followed by a fight call around 10:30 p.m. The crowd was dispersed within 30 minutes, but a shots fired call was made at 11:10 p.m., followed by calls for a person shot shortly after.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown condemned the shooting, calling it a “senseless crime” that “makes no sense whatsoever.” The police believe three handguns were present at the party and are investigating the incident.
