Lola Sligar Obituary – On Thursday, March 21, 2024, Lola Sligar, who had spent her entire life making Central City her home, passed away. She had lived throughout her entire life. This was the place where she had spent her entire life. It was the spot that she had called home for the entirety of her existence. Then, she had reached the age of 83 years.
It was on January 24, 1941, in the community of Iuka that Earnest Brown and Cora Alice (Watson) Brown, both of whom were first-time parents, became parents for the very first time. Their first kid was born into the world, and they were overjoyed. They couldn’t contain their joy when they learned that they were going to be parents to a cute little girl.
Their daughter was born to them, and she was given the name she shared with her mother. After exchanging their vows and becoming husband and wife, her marriage to John W. Sligar took place on March 11, 1961, in Waukegan, Illinois. The ceremony took place in the city of Waukegan. This occurrence served as the impetus for the beginning of their future together while they were together.
He passed away on November 30th, 1981, which was a day after she had already passed away. He was the sixth person to pass away. This past November 30th was the day he passed away. It had been one day since she had passed away when he joined her in passing away. Lola is survived by her son, Larry Sligar, Sr., who resides in Central City.
Seven grandchildren, including Tracy Maas and her husband Justin, who reside in Central City; Talisa Ashby and Jeremy Cook, who reside in Olney; Larry Sligar, Jr., and Joyceann Lesperance, who reside in Centralia; Lexi Sligar, Laci Sligar, Drew Sligar, and Kelsey Sligar, all of Centralia; six grandchildren, including Morgan Maas, Taylor Maas, Tyler Maas, Amber Ashby, Rance Castellari, and Journey Sligar; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Her three sisters, Rosalee Bundy, Marie Lumpkins, and Polly Burkett, as well as her parents, her husband, her two daughters, Kathy Sligar and Rebecca Eagen, her six brothers, Les Brown, Earnest Brown, Jack Brown, Dick Brown, Bill Brown, and Herbert Brown, and her three sisters all left before she died. Her parents, husband, and daughters all left before she did.
Before she passed away, her husband, her daughters, and her parents all passed away. She was the only member of her immediate family to have survived the tragedy that her family had been through. The following individuals to depart were her husband, her parents, and then she herself. She was the last person to leave.
