Daniel Thornton Obituary, Death – On Wednesday, August 30th, Daniel Edward Thornton, who was 67 years old, passed away at his residence. In the city of Des Moines, Iowa, on April 19, 1956, Dan Thornton was born to his parents, Anne (Irwin) and Jerry Thornton. Dan obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Iowa. During the majority of his professional life, he held the position of Managing Director at Principal Financial Group – Commercial Real Estate. In May of 2020, Dan was able to retire.
Dan Pender tied the knot with Regina Pender on November 16th, 1991. During the year 1974, Dan and Gina both received their diplomas from Dowling Catholic High School. On the other hand, they did not become acquainted with one another until they were in their early 30s. Every summer, Dan and his family would take a trip to Colorado, where they would do things like watch the Iowa Hawkeyes play golf and work on improving their golfing skills at the Wakonda driving range. Both of his parents, Anne and Jerry Thornton, as well as his sister-in-law, Laura Thornton, passed away before he did.
Dan is survived by his wife Regina, two sons, Andrew Dahm and Jeffrey Thornton, sisters Libby Stanton (remarried to Jeff), Margie Marble (married to Mike), and Katie Bartlett (married to Mark Currie), brothers Larry Stanton (married to Teresa), Chris Marble (married to Beth), Pat (married to Katy), and Mike, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Dan will be held on September 6, 2023 at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 5711 SW 9th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., immediately following the visitation.
The funeral service will be place privately at Glendale Cemetery. Born on March 18, 1959 in Lackawanna, New York, the deceased was laid to rest there. Throughout his life, Daniel possessed an uncanny ability to solve problems and was a true genius when it came to fiddling with things. The challenges that he faced were enthusiastically accepted, and he was always looking for new ways to develop and innovate. It was because of this desire that he was able to develop a prosperous profession as a welder, where his abilities and knowledge were highly respected.
When Daniel was not at work, he found peace and happiness in the natural world. He had a profound awareness for the natural splendor that was all about him, and he had a deep appreciation for it whether he was spending time in his cherished garden or exploring the vast outdoors. He had a soft spot in his heart for the beach because it offered him a sense of serenity and calm that was unparalleled. In spite of the challenges he encountered, Daniel was able to draw strength from the people he cared about.
His beloved wife, Sally Ann Thornton, who offered him an incredible amount of joy throughout his life, passed away before him before to his passing. His death has left a hole in the world that his loved ones and friends will struggle to fill to the fullest extent. Rose Thornton, Daniel’s devoted mother, and Jesse Thornton, Daniel’s father, are the only people who will remember him. In addition, he is survived by his son, Shawn Thornton, his daughter-in-law, Domanique Thornton, and his grandkids, Kaley, Aaliyah, and Shawn Jr., all of whom caused him an incalculable amount of happiness and immense pride throughout his life.
In addition, he is survived by his sister, Denise (Mike) Gresnick, his nephew, Morgan, and his nieces Emily and Sarah, both of whom held a special place in his heart due to their close relationship with him. The fact that Daniel has left this world serves as a reminder to each and every one of us of the significance of accepting the difficulties that life presents, discovering solace in the natural world, and appreciating the relationships that we have with those we care about. We shall always be motivated by his memory to never stop discovering new things, creating new things, and appreciating the beauty that is all around us.when it is later.
