A man died after he was stuck by a car while attempted to cross a street in Southington on Sunday night.
The Southington Police Department, along with the Southington Fire Department and AMR, were dispatched to the area of 235 Queen St. just before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday for a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian, according to police.
The pedestrian, identified as 70-year-old Ralph Gulla, was located in the roadway with severe injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts by first responders, Gulla was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Queen Street when it allegedly struck the pedestrian who may have been attempting to cross the street, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle, who was uninjured, remained on the scene and was cooperative with the investigation, police said.
The Southington Police Department’s accident investigation team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, according to police.
