Jason Tipton Obituary, Death;- Louisiana State Police Troop E reported on Friday, March 21, that a pedestrian was killed in a wreck near Ferriday. Authorities said they responded to the scene of the crash on Hwy 569 at around 7:40 a.m. on Friday. There, they discovered that Jason Tipton, 46, of Vidalia, had died.
Troopers investigated and determined that Tipton had been standing on the shoulder of Hwy 569 to help load heavy machinery onto a trailer. They said, for reasons not yet known, a truck driven by Edwin Tillery, 68, of Ferriday, failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the trailer.
Troopers said Tipton was pinned against the trailer, was fatally injured, and died at the scene. Tillery was not wearing a seatbelt, was moderately injured and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Routine toxicology samples were submitted for analysis. An investigation is ongoing.
